Threading the Veil: Death Saves

Updated: Apr 21

A powerful, ethereal figure with a crown and flowing robes, wielding dual swords, stands dominantly over a battlefield with fallen warriors and a fiery sky.

The line between life and death is perilously thin. To heighten tension and deepen immersion, we have modified the D&D Death Save mechanics.

  • Hidden Death Saves: The Game Master (GM) will privately roll and track a PC's Death Saves, keeping their fate uncertain.

  • Fading Memories: On their turn, a dying character may recall a defining moment from their past—a lingering regret, a lost love, or a painful failure—offering a glimpse into their soul’s journey.

  • Exhaustion from the Brink: Each time a PC drops to zero hit points, they gain one level of exhaustion. A short rest removes one level, while a long rest eliminates all accumulated exhaustion.
